Please make sure you have as many cues and supports to ensure you do not get dehydrated, especially in the first two weeks after surgery. A new water bottle, especially one with measures on the side can be helpful. Try different types of flavoured water or tea.
You will need to be on a multivitamin for life. The chewable option is the one recommended early on; however not everyone can tolerate this. Before buying lots of them, try one or two to see how you tolerate it. If you wished to use a tablet form this should be started at 2 weeks postoperatively.
Protein is critical to maintain muscle mass and your basal metabolic rate. Everyone will decondition immediately after surgery, but from six weeks you should be rebuilding muscle. To do this you will need 60-80g of protein per day.
To supplement your protein intake, there are a number of options.
